*this book, along with a German grammar workbook ($1) was actually last week's cuuh, but the haul was so small I decided to just work it into this week's post. I also added the cost to the amount spent this week.
Close-up of the "1970 Year of Crisis" collector's plate, from Seven Seas Traders of Minneapolis, made in W Germany. I was immediately drawn to this plate and the idea of making a collectible plate to commemorate a year of crisis. Huh? And the artwork featuring all the problems and tragedies is a bit of a hoot as well in my opinion. I've seen a lot of collector's plates while cuuh hunting, but nothing quite like this. Amazingly, the thrift store selling this had 2 of them, both in their original boxes. For a reasonable $3 this one is now mine!
This particular model Kenmore machine is one of my favorites. This is my 3rd, and if it is anything like the other 2 I have, it is one of the smoothest running and sewing machines ever made. No accessories with this one, luckily I have the ones I got with the other two. Found this at the Humane Society Thrift Shop, originally priced at $18, reduced to 16 with a "good customer" discount. A great deal.
The Singer Spartan, a 3/4 size machine, straight stitch, made in Great Britain. Also found this at the Humane Society Shop, another good bargain at only $11.
Here is the tulip painting, another find at the Humane Society Shop The gold frame is beautiful and the painting is done in acrylic and signed. I liked it the minute I saw it, liked the colors, liked the bugs (a fly, and some ants on the leaves), and I love those two-tone tulips! I don't encounter much artwork that I consider buying, so I was very pleased to get this for just $7. It's quite large, 31 x 25", and it gives the house a very elegant look.
This is a photo I took recently of Joe, on the phone (Skype) talking to his mother while Bella Cotton enjoys some quality pets. Bella loves lengthy phone chats!
